About Orbit Sling
Orbit Sling is a slingshot puzzle where you bend a probe around planets into a target ring. It has 30 levels and runs in the browser with nothing to install.
Why we made it
Aiming on a phone is usually imprecise because your finger hides the screen and the targets are small. In Orbit Sling you can start a drag anywhere and see the path as a dotted line before you let go, so aiming stays precise whatever the size of your finger. The goal was a puzzle you can solve one-handed in thirty seconds on the move.
The physics
Gravity falls off with the square of the distance, with a tiny softening term so values do not blow up at close range. The simulation uses a fixed step of 1/120 second and is fully deterministic: the same aim always gives the same path. There is no randomness, which is why the dotted preview and the real flight are identical.
Levels are generated procedurally from fixed seeds, and every level is checked by trying every angle and power to prove it can be solved. Later levels leave a narrower range of solutions.
